There are no accounts, tracking cookies or advertising trackers. Saved cars, cars you're comparing and your list or grid choice are kept in your own browser (local storage) and never sent to us; clearing your browser's site data removes them. The IP address and country of a visit are never used to identify or contact you, and never shared.
Messages, reports and advertising requests
When you use a form, we receive what you type: usually your name, email address, phone number and message. We use it to reply and deal with your request (our legitimate interests, or steps towards a contract you ask for). Messages are emailed to us and collected from the web host; the copy on the host is deleted once collected, or after seven days at most. We keep correspondence as long as we need it to deal with your request and for our business records.
Private sellers and their buyers
- Sellers: we keep your name, email address, phone number, the vehicle's details and photos to check and publish your listing and to send you its management link (to perform the listing you asked for). Your email address is never shown. Your phone number is shown only if you choose. Your listing and photos are deleted when it ends; we keep a record of the listing for our business records.
- Buyers who message a seller: we pass your name, email address, phone number and message to the seller so they can reply. We keep a copy with your details hidden (for example "J. S., j***@mail.com") to deal with abuse and complaints.
Photos you upload are re-saved without hidden location data.
Dealers
We record dealers' business details that they publish (name, address, phone number, website and the vehicles they advertise) to show who is selling each vehicle. For a dealer who trades as an individual, that is personal data: we use it for our legitimate interest in showing buyers who is selling, and it comes from the dealer's own website.
Who else sees data
Our web host (20i, in the United Kingdom) stores the website, its database and the forms' messages; our email provider carries the emails. We don't sell personal data or share it with advertisers. We'd pass it to anyone else only if the law required it.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to how we use it, or ask us to restrict it. Contact us. If you're unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner (jerseyoic.org).
